Calcutta High Court: Removing ED officer for Investigation of Bengal School Scam Cases

Justice Amrita Sinha said that the officer was not able to give proper and satisfactory answer questioned by her in the court and she added that the officer is not competent much enough to handle the case.


The Calcutta high court has said that the enforcement directorate that is (ED) to relieve its assistant director Mithlesh kumar Mishra from the investigation of the west Bengal primary school job scam and the court said that he should not be assigned to an investigation in the state.


Justice Amrita Sinha said to the ED director to immediately assign a new officer for the replacement of Mr Mishra. In the earlier hearing of the matter of the school job scam case justice Sinha just expressed her views over ED reports. Justice Sinha observe that the last hearing with Mr. Mishra was not so well as he was not able the give proper answers to the court, so the Justice held that the officer should be replaced and engaged with other matter but he will not be investigating any cases of west Bengal.


The court observed that something is not well in the ongoing scam, as the judge arise many question to Mr. Mishra as the way he has been investigating in the finances of leap and bound. The CEO of the company was Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. The court also pointed out that the list of the assets provided by Abhishek Banerjee was grossly incomplete.


The investigating agencies are directed to file a detailed report to the court and the details should contain the transactions of the company, values of transaction’s, clients of the company from the date of its inception, balance sheet and the accounts of the company till the date of the disclosed. As all this details should be filed in the report of ED and ED has give almost 5 pages of report to the court.


The central agency asked to Mr. Banerjee to appear in Kolkata on 3 October 2023 in the connection of this scam, but Mr. Banerjee announced that he can’t appear on that day as he will participating in a programme in Delhi .
