CJI's proposal for national judicial infrastructure authority not yet agreed: Law Min. to Lok Sabha

CJI Ramana's proposal for a National Judicial Infrastructure Authority has not been met with agreement: Law Minister to the Lok Sabha

The suggestion of Chief Justice of India NV Ramana to establish a National Judicial Infrastructure Authority of India has not been agreed upon, Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of Law and Justice, said the Lok Sabha on Friday.

Mr. Rijiju had informed the Lok Sabha in March 2022 that the Ministry has obtained the Chief Justice of India's proposal for the establishment of the National Judicial Infrastructure Authority of India (NJAI) in order to set up a sufficient infrastructure for courts. According to the proposal, NJAI was to serve as a central organization in establishing the roadmap for planning, developing, maintaining, and managing a functional infrastructure for the Indian judicial system. A governing body with the Chief Justice of India serving as patron-in-chief was intended. The Law Minister further stated that the proposal for NJAI had been given to the various State Governments and UTs, who are significant stakeholders, to get their feedback on its general outline so that a well-considered opinion could be formed.
