In a recent development, the Karjat police station in Raigad district successfully solved a murder case after receiving crucial information from a local informant. On February 29, the police were alerted about a body found in the jungles of Kashele village on the Karjat-Murbad Road. Upon investigation, the victim was identified as Suraj Atmaram Parihar, a native of Nepal and a resident of Panvel, working as a caterer at various hotels and resorts.
Despite initial difficulties in identifying Parihar, the police circulated his photos in the locality and among informants, eventually receiving information confirming his identity. The breakthrough came when a T-shirt with the name of a resort, 'Mount View Resort', was found tied around Parihar's hands. Further inquiry led the police to a list of labor contractors associated with the resort, narrowing down their search.
Through technical investigation, the police identified Dilip Dhansani, a Dharavi resident, as a suspect. Dhansani allegedly confessed to the murder, claiming Parihar's actions caused him financial losses. Along with an accomplice, Vijay Waghri, Dhansani planned and executed the murder by luring Parihar to Karjat, getting him drunk, and then killing him.
The arrest of Dhansani and Waghri marks a significant breakthrough in the case, highlighting the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies. Both suspects are currently in judicial custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
