About the Company:

The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) is a key division under the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, responsible for providing legal advice to various government bodies and representing the government in legal matters. The department covers various specialized fields such as constitutional law, administrative law, finance law, arbitration, and more.


About the Internship:

The Department of Legal Affairs is inviting applications for its Internship Programme 2024. This internship provides an opportunity for young law students and graduates to gain practical experience by working closely with officers and learning about legal research, court functioning, and advisory processes in various fields of law. The internship will provide hands-on experience and insight into the workings of the legal framework in India.


Eligibility:

- Indian students who have completed the 2nd year of a three-year law degree or the 3rd year of a five-year law degree course.

- Law graduates from recognized colleges/law schools/universities.

- Advanced knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.) will be preferred.

- Applicants who are still studying must provide a No Objection Certificate from their institution.


Roles and Responsibilities:

- Assisting with legal research and referencing work.

- Observing court proceedings and assisting in related tasks.

- Providing support in offering legal advice in specialized fields such as constitutional law, finance law, arbitration, and contract law.

- Assisting in the drafting of legal documents and reports.

- Working with various sections and officers at the Department of Legal Affairs and associated sections.


Duration:

- The internship lasts for one month, commencing from the first working day of every month.


How to Apply:

- Interested candidates must fill out the online application form available on the Internship Portal.

- Law students are required to upload a No Objection Certificate from their respective institutions, while law graduates must upload their final year certificate.

- The deadline to apply is 17th September 2024, by 5:00 PM.


Selection Process:

- A maximum of 50 candidates will be selected each month.

- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through the Internship Portal or email.


Salary/Stipend:

- Interns will receive an honorarium of ₹1,000 upon successful completion of the internship.


Location:

- The internship will take place at various locations, including the Main Secretariat in New Delhi, Central Agency Section at the Supreme Court, Litigation HC Section in Delhi, and Branch Secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.


Certification:

- Interns will receive a certificate upon satisfactory completion of the program, which requires 90% attendance and positive feedback from the assigned authority.
