The Bombay High Court has asked the Mumbai Police Commissioner to withdraw the circular requiring the DCP's approval before filing POCSO FIRs

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court asked if the Mumbai Commissioner of Police would be willing to withdraw the circular requiring the Assistant and Deputy Commissioners of Police's permission for the registration of FIRs under the POCSO Act.

A division bench of Justice Mohite Dere and Justice VG Bisht was hearing a challenge to a circular issued on June 6, 2022 with the goal of preventing the Act from being misused.
