Sentences in the Sister Abhaya Murder Case
As a temporary measure, the Kerala High Court on Thursday suspended the sentences of Sister Sephy and Father Thomas Kottoor, who had been found guilty of murdering Sister Abhaya in 1992, and gave them bail.
In December 2020, a CBI Court in Thiruvananthapuram found them guilty of murder and sentenced them to life in prison.
A Division Bench of Justices K. Vinod Chandran and C. Jayachandran highlighted initial questions regarding the testimony offered by a number of prosecution witnesses before the trial court while upholding their request to have the sentence suspended.
