The Telugu poet and Bhima Koregaon-Elgar Parishad suspect P Varavara Rao petitioned the Supreme Court on Thursday, appealing the Bombay High Court's decision to deny him permanent medical release. The Supreme Court decided to hear the case on July 11th.
After Senior Advocate Anand Grover raised the issue, a bench made up of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala gave the order.
The Bombay High Court had denied him permission to live in his Telangana home through the contested order from April 13, but it had also given instructions to speed up the trial and extended his temporary release by three months so that he could undergo cataract surgery.
