Saket Gokhale, the leader of the TMC, requests the filing of a criminal contempt complaint against OpIndia for allegedly insulting the SC through comments made in Nupur Sharma's case.

TMC MP Saket Gokhale has sent Attorney General K.K. Venugopal a letter requesting the start of criminal contempt proceedings against the website OpIndia for allegedly disrespecting the Supreme Court over comments the court made orally in the case of former BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

After hearing Nupur Sharma's petition to club FIRs regarding statements on Prophet Mohammed earlier this week, the Top Court took a harsh stance against her.

According to the Supreme Court, Nupur Sharma is solely to blame for what is occurring in the nation for her remarks on the Prophet Mohammed

The former BJP spokesperson was criticised by the vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala for making "disturbing" remarks on the Prophet Mohammed on national television. It further mentioned that she only offered a "conditional apology”, and that too only after a backlash against her comments.
