Eknath Shinde, the recently sworn-in chief minister of Maharashtra, cannot claim to speak for the actual Shiv Sena, according to PDT Achary, a former secretary general of the Lok Sabha.
The anti-defection statute under the tenth schedule of the Constitution, according to Achary, forbids such a plea, according to an interview with Manu Sebastian, the managing editor of LiveLaw.
